Default Faulty Car Horn - Only one horn working

Hi People,
I have just joined the forum. Can you please help? My Audi A8 3.0 TDI Quattro has a faulty car horn, it actually works, but only one of the twin horns, hence sounds NAFF. My mecahnic suggests needs to be taking the whole bumper off to get to it, which sounds drastic, any ideas?? I know it is behind the bumper somewhere, but how can it be accessed without taking off the bumper?

You do have to remove the front facia, not the bumper though.

Remove both front wheels/tires, remove bottom engine cover (like during an oil change), remove wheel well plastics, remove bolts and nuts holding the facia including some at the top. Horns are behind the grille. Replace both since they do get rusty.

How much is that going to run you. If it were me I'd suffice without it if it were expensive.

The grill can be removed without taking the fascia off. Screws on the top and in the bars. I had one horn go bad as well.

Yes sir. Five screws on top and two under the bottom bar of the grill and then pull straight out. Be careful of the top mounts when pulling as the ends of the top are pretty thin plastic.

Thanks for the reply. I didn't bother to study the fascia when I pulled it off for the timing belt job. Good to know.

Thanks for your advice, now sounds logical, I'll discuss with my mechanic to sort.
