Guidance in an A8L purchase??
I am new to this board as I currently own a 2000 A6 2.8Q. Recent additions to the family require a bigger car and I do not want an SUV. We have had great luck with this Audi and need AWD. After reading some posts, I am a little hesitant to buy a 2004-2005 due to possible reliability issues. Can anyone offer feedback, suggestions or previous posts? Thanks in advance.

considered an 06? flawless besides this retarded transmission sound...
heard from my tech that 06's have consierably less recalls/tcb's. also you get better driver information display, love the big grille, and graphic parking system that 04-05 do not have.
all the best.
all the best.

Later MY2005 are fine (cars w/ Bluetooth and not Onstar)
I have one of these vehicles (see picture below) and the only problem I have had was the trunk hinges which were fixed under warranty. Keep in mind that a lot of happy people don't bother to write that they are happy so the content here tends to be more heavily people griping about something.
As for the transmission sounds 06A8 mentions, I have never heard what he is referring to... Good luck with your purchase!

Crog, any 04 that you are interested in has a written history behind it.
Generally speaking, as Ringmeister has stated, "late" 04s can be found in pretty decent shape. 05s offer a few more "goodies" and the integration of the phone with the car is much better later in that year. Again, if you know the history of the car you are looking at, you should be OK.

Early build 2005 - minor electronics, MMI and trunk hinge issues.
All working fine after they were fixed. One small intermittent problem is the electronic parking brake sometimes fails to engage. It keeps trying and trying, then gives up.
