Default I emailed autoillumination about DRL

they told me what I needed to order:

HI-

daytime running lights 7506 (Use 23 led Canbus 7506)

http://autolumination.com/1156_1157.htm

fog lights H7 Use 18 led SMT + two 3 ohm load equalizers if there is a bulb out
warning.

http://autolumination.com/headlights.htm

I also ordered the parking lights. I drive around with the DRL on all the time because they will come on and off each time I get in A8L I really wanted to do those.

the daytime running lights, aren't they the main headlights? I thought there were your main big xenon bulbs, parking lights, which is in this writeup, and fog lights. When you turn on daytime running lights on all the time in the MMI, it turns on the main headlights as the DRL's. Correct?

i was gonna double check but when i turn on DRL in the MMI, the main headlights turn on. i've only seen the front when it was in park but the main headlights are on plus the parking light. am i wrong?

also this looks like a good kit for converting your fogs into HID:

Default DRL?

if the headlight switch is OFF and the DRL is OFF then all lights are off.

i took some pics...

first is of the DRL in the mmi menu...

second pic is with the headlight switch turned off and the drl turned on...so the main headlight plus the parking light is on.

third pic is with the head light switched to parking lights and the drl turned off...

it seems to me that drl is just parking lights + low beam headlights. right?

Yes I believe so.
I'm going to buy the LED's this weekend, my only problem is with the replacement of the LED on the left side. I'm a bit leery removing the two screws and pulling the headlight out a bit. Is it as easy as it seems? Just unscrew the two, pull the headlight out a bit, open the housing behind the light, and pull out the wire and replace the light?

IIRC, from when I replaced the Xenon bulb last year, there is also one screw near the bottom of the lamp assembly (Accessible from the top, near the hydraulic fluid reservoir.

Its 4 screws you have to remove NOT only 2.
Simpler than it sounds really.. But if removing screws an replacing them is looking difficult then maybe you shouldnt.

The first 2 of the 4 screws that need to be removed in order to pull the headlight out..

Although my memory is failing as I get older, at least I remembered one of those two screws down there!

I think it all depends on what year your car is. Mine is an 07 and DRL are a seperate bulb in the inner circle that comes on for my DRL. My HID headlights are off. There is a seperate parking light bulb that comes on when the parking light is turned on and when the headlights are on. I have ordered the parking light and DRL LED bulbs.

Yes, I got the same results on my '04. Never noticed the little ghetto parking lamp, but now that I have, I have GOT to get me some LEDs.
