Hands Free Install a Sucsess!

Took lots of pictures, will post a procedure sometime soon.

Oh yeah, the Handsfree worked on the FIRST TRY -- a huge credit to Paul's hand-on engineering skills.
THANK YOU, Doctor Audi!

I got an email asking me about doing another install, this is how I replied:
--------more info about the install-----
No problem. I can do it for you, probably takes 4-5 hours and it will be like factory! I should actually make a kit. I just went through all the pictures, for the first time install, it looked awesome, very professional. The second time around we could make it really nice.
I did put a lot of time into it, took at least 6 solid hours of working, plus about 4 hours last week looking at the manuals.....we did talk a lot during the install, but we engineered the whole thing and then connected it up, soldered everything the first time around, tested it, and it worked perfectly.
It was cool because I needed my vag-com that I just got to put the telematics system into "service" mode. At the end, we took it out of "service" mode and then tried it (actually tested it first before putting everything back together, then put it back in "service" mode). We called OnStar and they verified they still had communications with the car, but they were not triggered during disconnection or reconnection of the telematics brain box. We had to figure out how to get to the telematics module, and once we figured it out (actually I found how to do it because of a TSB that I had read).....it was a real engineering milestone! ;-)
Very cool, probably easier to explain in person.....
Yes, if you want me to integrate it, I can. I would recommend maybe we do it differently and you also install a cradle to power the phone when you want (it will still work via Bluetooth if you don't want to dock it) and to hook up the external antenna (already installed in the car) for added signal strength.
--------end message--------
Thanks to Ulf (the donor's car owner) who helped and allowed me to hack the wiring without question, and picking up any slack when I couldn't get something.....
And to Gabor....for providing support for the whole project!
And should I mention my son Evan who made homemade chicken and cheese quesedilias and brought them out to the garage for us to eat....and he's only 10!!!!

Since the D3 already has cell phone antennas built in (I think for different frequencies) there is so reason not to use it for additional signal strength.
I'm going to do another D3 and use the Audi installed external antenna (I believe it's in the C pillar) and try and do it with a "kit".
I'd be happy to sell them once I figure it out a little more.

I have an A8 D3 and was wondering how you connected up for mute and speaker etc. This is a UK car and doesn't have telematics etc or even a phone prep, can I still add the mute and speaker wires in.
