Default I love my Audis..and especially the S6, but if BMW was offering $11.3K in incentives on the 7 series

when I was looking, I might have ended up in one of those!

According to this article from the Detroit News, BMW is now offering up to $11.3K in "discounts" on the 7 series. I might learn to live with I-drive at those prices! It doesn't say whether the discounts are trunk money, residual support, subvented money factors or a combo of everything. But it does mention how unhappy the investment community is with the discounts that BMW is offering.

http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070306/UPDATE/703060451/1148/AUTO01</a

Default BMW has some good programs...

x drive (awd) should be out on the 7 series next year.

idrive really is not a big deal. if you can handle MMI, then you can figure out idrive. Car & Driver b1tches waaaay too much about it.

I like both the A8 & 7 series--but even rich guys look at cost. The 7s, even 02 models are holding value rather well.

Default Agreed, and being in L.A., quattro certainly isn't essential for me.

I am not a big fan of the 7 series styling, though the "refresher" helped last year. But with $11K reduction in price, that car is hard to beat in the "bang for the buck" category of luxury cars. I also agree that I-drive is not a deal killer in itself, but I do feel that MMI is a quantum leap in being user friendly.

Default Ya but, $11K disc gets you a car that's looking more & more like Lexus / Camry's all the time...

they are copied so much in the rear that I have a hard time telling them apart.

Then you get the debaggers out there and I'm at a lost as to, is it a camry or bmw, bmw or camry, lexus or bmw, bmw or lexus, camry or lexus.

Default lol....exactly. I could have had a 7 series at a big discount with a great lease

but not this size discount. My lease payment would have been at least $200/month lower than the S6. This $11K program would probably have lowered that another $200 or so. That $400 a month savings would have been pretty hard to refuse when you end up with a 7 series BMW!

Default Pretty hard to compare an S6 with a 750

I had an '06 750 Li. Great car, but very refined (read between the lines-- boring) and just got an S8. The two cars are pretty difficult to compare in my view.

Default it may be cash or special lease programs...not both...be sure to read the fine print..

But what do you think it will do to the resale of that car that is not really that great already???
With already about $5k-6k mark up and another $11k, that's almost $20k depreciation right there....

Default Well, I'm out of the market having just acquired the S6 but

if I am leasing, I don't care about the resale, just the cost of the lease. I agree that their program will impact resale, but for now it provides an incredible deal on a great vehicle...if you can live with the styling, idrive, etc.

Default I totally agree with you.

I was just saying that I might never have considered the S6 if I'd seen this kind of deal on a 750i. For that matter, if the swb A8 had leased for $300-400 per month less than the S6, I would have gotten an A8. I decided on the S6 when the lease came out very close to that on the A8s I was looking at. I gave into the siren call of the V10! ... and haven't looked back. The S8 leases even worse than the S6 so that one was out of my league this time; not to mention they are even tougher to find than S6s in L.A. The reason my S6 was on the showroom floor was that the guy that ordered it had upgraded to an S8 on the spot!

Default in a couple years when its time to trade in my 5 series, I'll look at

A8s, 7s, and 5s. I'm finding my 5 one of the most comfortable cars I've had. I don't want a bone jarring car. With the good rates on BMW and good service (so far), it will take alot to switch. xdrive has worked just fine in some really bad winter weather.

But who knows, I've traded through 3 cars in the last year trying to find something comfortable that had my requirements.
