Info on buying a 2003 or 2004 A-8
I am looking to buy a 2003 or 2004 A-8. As part of my research I would like some information from past or existing owners. What are your thoughts on these cars? What should I look out for? Would you buy a A-8 from these years and why or why not? Do you know of any comprehensive reviews of used A-8's from 2003 or 2004?
Thanks in advance.

03 and 04 are different cars. Each has its upsides and downsides.
Issues with the 03 seem to be more mechanical in nature while some 04s suffer from electrical "glitches". Check the history of a car that interests you and if something stands out, come back to this forum and post it!

I bought a 2004 with low s/n (below 750) with 58,000 on the clock and have had no problems for the 11 weeks I have had it and have put about 7500 miles on it so far.
Keeping my fingers crossed and $5k in the reserve fund "just in case"!
Life would be grand if it weren't for the monthly $1-3k aw****... Usually automobile related!

I am leaning more to the 2004 model with its updates. The biggest issue is the lack of used inventory to pick from.

Re: It really is the "luck of the draw"! Mine has been fine at times
That's why I stay clear of first year cars. I had the 2003 A8L, and now a 2006. I did the same with my 2002 Viper which was the last of the series, as well as with my M3 which is last of series.
Nobody will ever accuse me of trying to be the first kid on the block with a new body style;-)

Re: There should be "a bunch " of 04s coming off leases this summer.
There is a 2004 with under 50k miles for $39,900 at Luxury Motors (luxurymotors.com) near Chicago. That one has been there since at least November.
Look at the prices of the 2005's and know full well that they will drop in price in under a year. It depends how long you are willing to wait.
Do a search on theis A8 D3 forum searching for " Polish Mafia " in the message body. It is a post of mine about my experience with Luxury Motors. Also read the posts before and after mine as another poster here bought from Luxury Motors.
Personally, I just fell in love with the 2004 A8L when it was shown at the 2003 auto show in Detroit. I bought one that was identical to the one they had on display.
Good luck with whatever you do.
