It's very confusing to read it but looks like module J285 needs to be replaced?

Based on the quiesce 194km before the scan and the low supply voltage I'd say it is battery or wiring related.
The fact that is reboots and the clock resets seems to back this theory up.

What does your battery meter show in MMI ?

If you replace it, the battery management module needs adaption per this how to.

I'm also highly suspicious of the chassis type of 4L0 which is a Q7.

Hi
I did replace the battery because it kept dying on me but I didn't get an OEM just one from Battery World that had same specs.

It could be the previous owner replaced the module? I am the 3rd owner. That could explain why its messing up they used the wrong part

Looks up all the different fault codes you're getting here: http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index...ry:Fault_Codes

I had a similar problem in my A6 a while back where the LCD display between the two gauges would not turn on. After scanning with VAG-COM I saw + others.

01317 - Instrument Cluster (J285): No Communications
Possible Causes:
CAN-Databus Wiring/Connectors from/to Instrument Cluster (J285) faulty
Fault(s) stored in Instrument Cluster (J285)

It was the "Fault(s) stored in Instrument Cluster (J285)" that got my attention so once I addressed the other issue and cleared the fault code associated with my other issue (it was a simple relay problem) the instrument cluster started working again without issue.

I meant to say they replaced a module from a Q7?

also wanted to add to my previous post: thanks for the quick reply on the subject.

Looks like the CAN Gateway is from a Q7:
Code:
Address 19: CAN Gateway Labels: 4L0-910-468.lbl
Part No SW: 4L0 910 468 HW: 4L0 907 468
Whether this is a problem or not I don't know.
Preliminary research shows other D3's have this, and may have something to do with being backup camera aware.
See here https://www.audiworld.com/forums/sho....php?t=2616555

I think cebo0650 is onto it with the J285.
Missed that in my first run through of the scan.

J285 has an extreme amount of faults, seems to me that would be the issue.

This may help to shed some light:

RE: 4L0 module, the VIN checks out for an A8 so they may be interchangeable, but I would be surprised if they were.

Sorry for bringing up this old topic, but Im experiencing the exact same problems as described here - with the same fault codes.

What was the solution to this problem?

Nothing yet. I'm gonna have to replace the instrument cluster most likely.

Does yours work for a while after clearing all DTCs?
