Default I've have the new MMI software for a week now and all is good...

It took about 2 hours for the upgrade and all went smoothly (I am told). The regional rep came and did it himself.

The most obvious differnece is no lawyer screen at startup. Also, it used to take a minute or two for the Directory to load. Now it is almost instantaneous (well, I said almost).

Voice commands work better when I reload them (dunno if this is really so, but it seems to be).

My "surround sound" MMI button is greyed out. Will this upgrade fix the issue?

Default D3, is it "greyed out" for all functions?

The only "true" surround sound in our 04 system is through the CD player and the other functions should be "inoperable".

The upgrade is for the MMI and not the audio system!

Default Exactly right..as indicated in the link a little further down....

Specifically, when the car "wakes up" from an MMI sleep mode, it looses the <front surround> setting.

...and that's what happens to mine, so I should be able to take a copy of this TSB and ask the service writer to put it on the service record for my 45K mile ( last freebie ) service and as a bi-product get some of the latest goodies we've talked about previously.
