junk in the trunk?

junk in the trunk?
Quick trunk question as I continue my search for a 2007 CPO. I'm thinking that the pass through ski-sack is a must option for me, but as I think about it I was wondering what the chances of fitting 181cm long skis in the trunk on the diagonal. If the trunk can fit skis of this size, then I can take this option of the must have list (which unfortunately is quite long already, making the search quite unproductive thus far). Any help as always is much appreciated. Thanks.

Re: junk in the trunk?
Sorry I don't know the answer to this but I wanted to share my thinking on the same question as I was shopping for my 06 A8L.
I also considered the ski sack to be a must-have until I figured out how hard it was going to be to get all of my must-haves in once CPO car.
I decided to get the OEM roof rack with the ski/snowboard adapter instead. Just ordered it today actually. My feeling was that as often as I'm going to want to have the ski sack, I'm also going to want to have a bunch of bags in the car, and I grew to like the idea of being able to take four people WITH their skis and bags without having to crowd the cabin.
Fitting bags in back along with your ski gear is an even bigger consideration if you keep company with snowboarders (we are people too.)
I also do a fair amount of mountain biking. While I am able to fit my mountain bike in the trunk (with both wheels and seat removed from frame) I also ordered two bike adapters for the roof rack. This way I can take two bikes, all the bike gear, plus all the bags necessary for two bikers (plus wives) to go away for a trail-riding weekend.
Another option: I was quoted $1,000 by the dealer for doing a OEM ski sack retrofit on a car not previously equipped with it. I'm not sure how thoroughly that had been thought through, but given the not inconsiderable cost of the OEM roof rack plus ski adapter, it's worth thinking about.

Re: junk in the trunk?
Thanks, that's good advice. I hadn't really thought of it like that. My A4 has a ski sack that I love having (works great for water skis and fishing rods also). Having not dealt with ski rack for a few years, I've gotten used to not having it. From the looks of things that option might get left off the list. Thanks for your thoughts.

Ski sack does work great
For a family of 4 the ski sack does work. I have 181cm skis. We fit we fit 4 sets along with boots, poles, and 1 weeks worth of clothing in the trunk for a trip to whistler this past season. Although it all fit, it was a bit of a puzzle on getting it all to fit right. I have the automatic trunk and getting that to work with all the stuff did take some ingenuity. If your going for a trip with more than 3 folks I would recommend the ski rack. But for a quick day trip to the mountains the sack would be fine - except for our fine brethren, the snowboarder.

Re: junk in the trunk?
Also for the archives: In the trunk of my 06 A8L, I am able to fit my mountain bike (Specialized Epic, size M) with both wheels removed. Just barely enough clearance for the trunk to close.
Actually fit two bikes back there this weekend, put the wheels (wrapped in blanket) in the back seat. Harder to arrange so the trunk would close, but we did make it work.
