Kinder, gentler wheel/tires - 18"
I now admit my order mistake. Took the 19" with all season because of the great look....but I do not like the ride and noise. Any suggestions on replacements, should I go with factory or look outside. Love the car (coming out of 745iL) but the Cleveland roads suggest I change the setup. Would love some help. Its a SWB, 2006 leased for 3 yrs.

I had a SWB with 18's (AS) and moved to 20's (Summer) and the car was quieter..
and handled better.
I have since changed cars, have the 19" sports (see sig) and have just swapped out to the 20's for summer. Again, I love the ride with the 20's.
My advice, act very carefully or be disappointed. It could just be tire pressure or the tire itself.

Chicago and suburbs. Drive 700 miles per week and haven't broken ...
a wheel yet!
Granted I've written off a 19" tire on a tollway pothole but the wheels have never suffered. However, by the same token, I have written off a 17" wheel and 2 tires on an A6. I don't think the hazard is as real as you have determined.

I wonder if it is the tire?
I have 19" here in Cleveland. Comming out of an S430 recently. My ride is smooth and quiet , no road and cabin noise. It could be either the long wheel base or the dual pane windows in my car. Can you test drive another A8 here just to compare?

What noise, unless it's the darn tyres...I had very loud Pirelli's after 8K miles and switched to..
after 14K when I couldn't stand it any longer to Continentals ( see sig for complete details ).

Same problem with P6 4 Seasons on my 05. A horrible tire.
At 20k they were so bad I had to take them off or I would have gone crazy. They went back on when I traded the car and the dealer changed them immediately.
No problem on the 05 or 06 with the Dunlops.
I swapped out the P6 4 seasons as fitted to the 06 as OEM equipment. They were faultless at 10k so I am suspicious that the tire problem on the 05 was actually induced by the suspension or it was a fault in that tire batch and not a general fault with the P6 4 Season design.
