Navteq version 5 not for pre 2006 A8s?

Navteq version 5 not for pre 2006 A8s?
Tried to purchase this from Navteq and they flat out refused to sell it saying it would be incompatible for my 2004 A8L. Tried to convince them otherwise citing experiences posted here and they wouldn't budge. I was told that v5 is for the 06 model saying the system is different and that v4 is as new as it gets for the 04 and 05 A8s.

Since I bought mine, the Navteq web site now says that...
"there is no new update available" for the 2004's
That changed from a few weeks ago when I bought mine.

Not true. I have an early 05 (pre bluetooth) and I have ..
V5 installed.
It installs without a problem - takes around 5 minutes - and runs fine. Can't talk about 04's.
I run the system off a copy burned to DVD and keep the original safe in the house.

They did say they sold some of the discs but decided to stop doing so since a number of people have had problems with the install. They apparently contacted AOA who agreed with the decision to stop selling to 04 and 05 model owners until an "appropriate" V5 version can be done for these models. Could bluetooth being incorporated into the system be responsible for this? (enough to make the 06 different enough?)

MikeN, thanks for the update. As I've got a bluetooth 05, i'm bummed to hear this about possible problems. Did they say they will be working on a release for the 05's? I was all psyched with gordie's impressions with the update and now am glad i waited (maybe). to not be able to update the nav data on a system would be crazy!!!
