Default Need help Recoding ABS Module?

I took my 2006 A8L into my local indi shop and they were trying to figure out a Short-to-Ground fault on the ABS / ESP system. They unplugged the ABS module to try a spare unit to see what they could find out. Unfortunately, that cleared the coding for ABS module in the car. They said they didn't have a licence to recode it... so I am now stuck doing it on my own with my VSDS... problem is that I have never done this before and I want to make sure I do the steps correctly.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

BTW, I have the original coding for the ABS module in the car... as I have the last VCDS log file that I ran about a week ago.

Well... with some Google searching, watching a few videos, reading the Ross-Tech wiki... I think I finally came up with the procedure. So I thought it would be valuable to put in here in case anyone else needs to do something similar with their VCDS:

Select ABS Module
Select Login/Coding - 11
Enter my Login id= 06297
Do it... accepted
Select Coding - 07
Entered my old Software Code value= 0007597
WSC= 12345
Importer= 444 (I think 000 also works?)
Do it... accepted
Select Measuring Blocks
Display Block 05
Turn steering wheel until it is centered and reading 0.0 degrees
Go Back
Select Login/Coding - 11
Enter the Steering Angle Login id= 40168
Do it... accepted
Select Basic Settings
Select Calibrate Steering Angle Sensor
Go...
Done!

Please note the Login Id and the Software Coding values that put in apply directly to my car. There is a page on the Ross-Tech wiki under: A8 (4E) / Brake Electronics / Login... that explains how to get the correct values for your car. Or do what I did and save the Software Coding from a previous VCDS Log file. The coding value is displayed under the ABS Module. You can then reverse engineer the Login value as they set values based on car model, brake size, engine size, gas/deisel sort of thing.

Hope this helps!

Hi, my car and my module is the same.I am trying to code it and I am doing all the steps as you have written.The procedure goes easily and without problems, everywhere it says that the code is accepted, but when I turn off the car and restart it again it tells me that the module is not coded.What could be the problem, I would be glad if someone could help me.Thank you in advance.

You can also recreate your software code with details of your car like suspension type and brake size front and rear. So it would work without having the old code.
