New to me 2007 S8
Well, very regretfully had to sell my manual swapped D2 S8. I loved that car - it would eat up long stretches of highway effortlessly and comfortably and the 6-speed really brought it to life on winding roads needing more driver involvement. I figured one way to ease my pain (though perhaps not in my wallet!) was to move up to the next gen with the V10. Found a well equipped 2007 with low miles and in great condition, except for a couple of items that I know will need addressing. Boy, what a difference! While I will certainly miss rowing gears, the D3 feels so much more advanced and refined, really much more of a step up than I expected. And that engine...!
Been reading up through this forum and the other and as I get a feel for the car I figured I'd ask a couple of quick questions before starting separate threads:

Been reading up through this forum and the other and as I get a feel for the car I figured I'd ask a couple of quick questions before starting separate threads:
- The car had a few codes when I first scanned it. I know the PO did not replace the manifold and I saw the 008196 & 008197 manifold flap faults, but cleared the codes and mysteriously they have not come back. I'll need to address this regardless, but will I get a check engine light or should I just continue to scan occasionally?
- So far it's running smoothly with no hesitation (knock on wood) but I'll likely need a carbon cleaning at some point so will address that with the manifold replacement. I'm a fairly competent DIY'er but this is a little more than I want to get myself into. A stealer job or an indy? Tough to figure out who knows more about this issue and the cleaning process, especially on the V10.
- I've got a solenoid valve fault so I know I have at least one bad motor mount. Is this job as straightforward as it looks or is there something that might cause it to be a little more involved?
- The throttle is sooo touchy, especially in sport. Might just need to get used to gentler inputs but I'm wondering if it's worth readapting for my driving style?
- Was going to wait and see how I like the OEM exhaust, but I'm already disappointed in the sound and need to make a change. I want something with a nice growl but not too loud and am leaning toward the Milltek resonated cat-back. Best source?
Thanks all, looking forward to being a part of this community!
