Faint random soft "pop" "pop".... "pop" every 5 to 10 seconds from the engine. Not sure what it could be.

Anyone ever hear something like that? Possibly from rear driver side of engine bay, but such an odd sound that it's difficult to pinpoint.

I know the PCV valve going out can cause all sorts of odd noises, a bit different for everyone it seems. The flex pipe for the exhaust is also prone to corrosion and would start off mild before getting much more noticeable. I can't say I've heard of exactly the sound you describe, though.

Thanks. I just took it apart and cleaned it today after searching forums. Didn't look too bad.

Listened closer at startup. The faint pop is a combustion pop from the passenger rear. And it corresponds to a very faint "bzzzt" at the injector as it happens... so I'm thinking it's the rear injector on in passenger side.

Does anyone have a spare 4.2 d3 injector they'd be willing to pass along? And other than depressurizing the system, is it a quick fix? I've seen some posts about removing the intake to get the injectors out but that makes no sense.
