I recently took my D3 to the dealer to have them look at my trunk because it was not locking with the convenience close.They wanted to rape...i mean charge me $463!!!!!!! that's just a little too much for a minor thing. Is there anyone out there that can tell me If I can just find the part and replace it myself? if so, is there anyone that can help me locate the part or selling one that is just laying around? thanx.

There is a recall for this trunk problem and on my 2004 A8 dealer replaced hinges (after out of warranty). Audi paid over $1800 for repair.

The same hinge problem happened to me but it was covered. I am disgusted that the dealer wants to charge you for this if there is a TSB out on the problem.

relax, the TSB was a campaign and has expired, probably just needs a trunk latch.

so it opens and closes OK, just doesn't pull down the last 1/2" or so?

it opens just fine, just when I go a press the button to close it, it goes all the way down but when it reaches the bottom it doesn't latch and then it just pops back up cause it isnt latching...

if the striker down on the body pulls down & also listen for the pull down motor behind the battery. If you don't hear or see the motor pull down the striker you probably need the latch.

I just tried doing that screwdriver idea and it locked but I didn't hear the motor or any noise for that matter when I locked it with the screwdriver.
