Replacing B & O door speaker
Speaker crackles a bit and I would like to replace it. Seems like Audi sells just the whole assembly (two door speakers together), but I need to replace just the lower one.
Has anybody done that? Wonder if it would be possible to get that speaker from a place other than Audi

WIth a few rare exceptions, most speakers are originally sourced through Seas Speaker. SEAS: The Art Of Sound Perfection
The problem is finding the correct one. If Seas does not make it, then you will have to source one from a junkyard/recycler.

I was pretty skeptical about $20 speakers being good and googled those Silver Flute woofers, people on different forums seem to be very pleased with them. I am gonna give them a try, ordered both 4ohm and 8ohm version to try out, since nobody knows what OHM do stock speakers have...
Worth the try before dropping almost $400 on a speaker from Audi dealer

Received the speakers (used 4ohm one after measuring the stock) and it was the right size, but had to drill mounting holes a bit for better fitment.
Unfortunately, this speaker distorts and since stock B & O amp pumps 125w per channel, I assume I just need a better speaker.
After lots of researching the only speaker, which appear to fit, is Morel MW-144 4ohm version. It has 150w RMS, so hopefully it will be fine.
Believe it or not, the only other available 5 1/2 4 ohm woofer with over 100w power is https://www.madisoundspeakerstore.co...idrange-4-ohm/
apparently its a very rare size
P.S. The damage on the stock speaker is weird, I doubt it could have blowned up by itself like that

What has failed is the speaker surround. This is caused by age plus environment. Very common problem. There are companies that will replace the surround for a modest fee but for something that small you might have to search.
I do not believe that excessive power damaged the speaker.

I would also contact Simply Speakers as they may have a surround repair kit.
Here is one of their products.
You may have to give them the surround OD.
Another source for drivers is Vifa/Typhany. Scanspeak and Vifa are also well known makers.

I would just unplug the speaker. Bass is omnidirectional so I doubt you will hear any difference or loose bass. Plus, i'm sure there are subwoofer(s) in your system so you will not lose much if anything.
Trying to blend in a different type of speaker will make sound worse.
