Hmmm...cruise control set to 65 (safe speed limit fort the highway), but parking brake on. 
Meanwhile more seriously, SAFE means someone stuck a supposedly unauthorized key in the ignition. Covered in the manual about the coded key function. Do you own another Audi or other vehicle with side cut key by chance? Once in a while--when I bother w/ the key--I manage to get my old A6 key in there.

I just took the picture when parked, and yes, cruise control was set for 65 after having Highway Patrol follow me for a while
When I first got in the car the Key was not recognized (I think I need a new battery in FOB) so that must be it. When I turned car off I saw message go away and the mileage appear before complete shutdown.

We've found on both the C6 and D3 it's a good idea to use the key in the ignition once in awhile.
I try to do use it once a quarter and it keeps thing synced up better.
Fewer SAFE and key not in car (key + ?) messages.

SAFE means the Immobilizer does not recognize a key. If you have a key that does this and one that doesn't, that means a key needs to be adapted to the Immobilizer system (05 Access start module). Sometimes happen when shops need to adapt keys for certain repairs and all keys for the vehicle were not present for them to be adapted.
Also, you can stick any sidewinder key in the ignition switch of a D3 A8. It has no actual key tumblers in it, so any key will go in and turn. If you have multiple keys for other Audi's, stick the key in question in the driver's door lock or trunk lock to make sure it's the key for the car.
