Yesterday I noticed that the driver's door outer window sill trim bar had shifted forward, and the end of the bar (where it meets up with the back door sill piece at the B pillar) was buckled--Looked like a garage attendant must have caught his jacket on the edge of the trim and caused the damage.
Was able to tap the trim bar almost all the way back into position, but the distorted end annoys me. It's not that noticable, but I know it's there. Wondering how much the dealer will charge to replace the trim piece. Der Kimbo, anyone?

I wonder how the jacket is! I would guess that a piece like that
cant cost that much. Call the parts dept. at your dealership and tell them you would like a discount. Seriously, I tried it early on and still receive 20% off.

I've discoverd that leaving a teeny tiny thing flawed often prevents other more expensive things from getting bent or broken. Alas, perfection is a tough row to hoe, particularly in a complex, two- ton machine that barrels down a road at 65+ miles per hour in all manner of weather.

For those interested, the tally would be....
...$160 for the trim piece plus 1 to 2 hours labor. It appears that the interior door trim has to be removed inorder to get access to the screws securing the clips holding the sill trim. Looks to be about $300 to get the job done.
After discussing this with the service manager, they'll look it over when I get a chance to bring the car in. Perhaps they can "persuade" the sill trim completely back in place, which would offset most of the cosmetic awkwardness. My feeling is, if it happened once, it'll happen again--So replacing the part may not be the smart move right now.
