Default Sudden Power Steering Loss

I suddenly lost my Power Steering at stop sign. 6 degrees outside, warmed car for 10 minutes, drove 8 blocks and suddenly lost PS when stopped at stop sign. No errors on display, fluid levels are ok. ANY thoughts on this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Blown fuse? As usual, though, a VCDS scan is recommended for best odds of determining the fault.

Thanks for your response Jack88,
I checked fuses 6 and 40 they seem OK. Are these the correct fuses? Manual says 6 is "Steering column electronics system control" and 40 is "Power Steering column adjustment". description doesn't sound right.

The Servotronic systems is an assist to the standard power steering so I dont believe that would be the problem.

(This sounds like my problem)

Yep, hard to turn wheel is loss of power steering. Loss of steering is a separate problem. Do you have a 4.2 FSI? There were a lot of engines available for the model, globally speaking, and knowing which you have can make a difference in what others will tell you.

[QUOTE=Pointman911;24765776]The Servotronic systems is an assist to the standard power steering QUOTE]

This is not correct, the servotronic system utilizes the pressure that is output from the PS pump and how it is applied inside the rack, the PS pump is at a constant pressure with a pressure relief and flow limiting valve, the servotronic is in the rack, if you have proper level in the PS reservoir you should be able to see some movement of the fluid in the said reservoir, do you have any noises, like whine, are you sure on the fluid level, and that there are no leaks anywhere ?
