When and where was it? Foreign car mechanics in Pittsburgh, closest place to me, say they won't even do it because it's so much work. And the Audi dealer said it would be $3800 minimum, which I knew they would be outrageous as well. What can I say to a mechanic to convince one to do it?

The marketplace section on Audiworld allows you to post up the car, so people can see what parts you have available. There is also a fair chance someone may want to buy it whole and try to fix it themselves. As for price, it really depends on the rest of the car, but no matter what, you would get more selling individual pieces than selling it whole, although it takes more time, as Shark covered.

I'd like to see you get a definitive diagnosis and fix at an Indy shop, but I don't have any knowledge on the subject of how much either fault(head gasket or oil cooler) for how much it should cost. Others on here, however, do know, and have already given you a good idea on how much the oil cooler replacement should run.

Anybody know how much a head gasket should cost?

The only problem is what people have experienced with fixing the oil cooler and what shops are telling me are very far apart. I'll be finding a way to get it to a shop soon enough to figure it all out, this happening around Christmas time has slowed things down for me.

You are in Pittsburgh? My home town. I'll ask around and see if anyone has recommendations for you.

Im located in San Diego, Ca but I had my work done in Bakersfield, Ca. The reason why the dealership is charging so much is because they recommend taking out the engine to get to the oil cooler. The shop (Audi/VW specialist) who did my work removed the exhaust manifold to get to it, and was completed by the next day. Keep on shopping around for independent Audi specialists for those who know about this problem.

I have spent a lot of time reading posts about the crack pipe/oil cooler R&R, and this is the first time I have heard that the engine/trans dont have to be removed. Can anyone else here confirm that the crack pipe can be replaced with out engine R&R ? My indie Audi specialist says no way...his estimate is $3300.

The process includes removing the exhaust manifold bolt out of the way or something like that. I had mine done in about 6-8hours

Default After almost 3 years time to say goodbye: S8 (model '09) in EU

I hope will not be an issue if I post here .... So, time for changes for me as well, another car is in the garden already and S8 must go .. .
What can I say, car is in perfect technical condition, beloved and serviced more frequent intervals when manufacturer requires,
has small scratch made by another car on the rear drivers side corner/bumper, on this photo even is not possible to see it.

Here is the link with more photos:

Audi S8 5.2 V10 Quattro Automatas als Limousine in Vilnius

If anybody interested feel free to contact me for more info and better price.

That's a beauty! Just the color combo I'm looking for. Maybe I can do a ED of your car!
