Tint
Has anyone tinted a D3 with 3M Crystalline 40 film?
I would love to see some pics.
I'm worried the tint won't be dark enough for my taste...

Not 40%, but here's 50% on both cars. 1st pic has shades up on the 8.
I'm happy with it. It really cuts down on heat gain and glare. I wish I could put 90% on the windshield, but it's not legal here.
Be sure you have a good installer. I did not and they scratched my 4. ...idiots!

tjf, thanks a lot for the response. My A8 is the same quartz gray metallic so the photos really help. 40 is the darkest Crystalline carried by my local installer and apparently that is the maximum legal tint on the front windows in Illinois. My concern is that the 40 won't be dark enough for my liking. However, I think your 50 looks great. I understand you work for 3M, but I'm interested to know why you went with Crystalline over other tints.

My car is actually Akoya Silver, not the quartz gray.
I went with the Crystalline because of the superior heat rejection with a lighter tint. I was not looking to make it too dark. I do find that if it's parked in the shade, you can't even see inside the car. Plus I can pull up the shades in the back, which darkens it even more.
