Default took off cover underneath my 06 D3 A8.

Hello Audi crew. Have a question about water getting under the car. I took off the cover underneath the car because i was gonna change my oil. I had to run out and it rained hard. Got home, parked and later it was lights flashing. I opened the door then the alarm started up. I tried stopping it but it didn't. I tried starting it with the key but nothing happen. Then the key got stuck. I got the key out the next day. Got a new battery, hooked it up but the alarms sounds again and the just starts and turns off without me puuting my key in. Help is needed. Any insite with be greatly appreciated.

Yep, you might have well gotten water where it wasn't supposed to be. Those covers keep the engine bay nice and dry. I wouldn't expect this issue on a newer car, but since the car has aged, a lot of wire insulation can have degraded, making water ingress more likely. Also, it's possible you have clogged sunroof or cowl drains, which can cause water to get into the cabin and soak your floors, leading to all kinds of issues. Check your floors front to back and press hard with your hand into the carpet to feel for wet, use a paper towel if you want to be sure. You can also test the drains by pouring water into them and making sure it comes out. Whatever the cause, step one is to find out where water got to.

I would bet that taking off the belly pan had nothing to do with the problem; instead the alarm horn or its connector got wet. Unplug it and see if the car works. You might have plugged cowl drains which would cause big headaches if not cleared.

Many of us have unplugged alarm horns because its internal batter(ies) corrode and wreck the circuit board. The horn is under the cowl cover on the passenger side.
