Default URGENT front end update help needed w12 headlights VAGCOM

Everything is done minus getting the headlamps working.

I recoded the 55 controller to 004 and my headlamps are still not operational.

Whats else is needed to get these to work?

Default Another try: Coding 0000018

Despite what I posted before that I pasted in directly from the openobd.org site "auf Deutsch," I see looking at a VAG COM print out for my car my actual coding stock is 0000018--2006 W12 in my case. See if that gets you anywhere.

Default What Exactly have you Done?

You DO not have a W12, correct?

But you got W12 headlights?

Answer the following:

1. The control module you have in the pictures, is it the J667 and J668 power output stages?

2. Have you performed either recoding or adaptation to the J519 Vehicle Electrical System Control Module?

If you have not either performed adaptation to the J519 module (that's what I think would be necessary) or recoded it (I don't think that would be necessary), then that's probably the reason why your lights don't work.

Here's a few notes on the J519 module:

Measuring blocks can be used to see the rotary light switch position. You'll have to determine which measuring block it is, but you could do that by going through the measuring blocks and on each one that is a real block, cycle the switch and see what changes. If something changes, note it.

You can also see "outputs" of the light control....check that also.

It also states that encoding must be performed in the Vehicle Electric System Control Module for:

- Daytime driving light
- Assistant Lighting System
- Type of Headlight
- Footwell lighting

I would imagine this is done through the adaptation channels.....and your is probably set to your original type of headlights and needs to be changed to the W12 headlight code.

Default Re: What Exactly have you Done?

so I have late 05 D3 SWB that i am swapping the newer style front clip onto. This IS NOT a W12.

I ordered the headlights based off of Liam's 2005 w12 vin. So I would have the LED DRL and match the S8. At $800 a piece I sure hope these work.

The only thing i have done besides plugging in the lamps was recoding 55 from 001 to 004.

The control modules are what came on the lights as ordered. I am not sure what models they are.

The only thing currently working is the LED DRL. Nothing else on the lamp is functional, ie signals, flashHigh, HID.

Default Other thing I notice is a mismatch in your control module part #.

My 2006 W12 says the software part number is 4F0 910 357C, and hardware # is 4F0 907 357C. The "F" part is what concerns me more, that is assuming your VAG COM part number is also actually the software number--if your post is of the hardware #, it obviously doen't match mine. Notice the power output stages (the thing on the back of the headlight units) also have an "F" in your picture, which is the same as mine. Ask Liam, but I'm guessing F maybe ties to a W12 specific part # instead of the normal 4E type # used with D3's. Your part number from the VAG COM scan in your post says 4E0 910 357.

Try the 0000018 coding from my car, but then next I would be trying to track down that control module part # discrepency--probably using the hardware # actually. I'm not an expert on these codes by any means, but the second and third codes you are getting at your power output stages at the headlights suggest to me they just aren't getting the right instruction signal from upstream, which takes me back to something about the control module--either the coding or the module itself.

Default 2005 and 2006 will have different versions hardware, software and coding

My neighbor has my W12 right now so I can't scan the car at the moment.

Default Did you see the ross-tech page?

It has a couple of different codes for the A8:

00001 = Audi A8 (4D - Facelift) dynamic light, 0000006 = Audi A8 (4E) for xenon plus, and 0000018 = Audi A8 (4E) for adaptive lights<ul><li><a href="http://wiki.ross-tech.com/index.php/Audi_A4/S4/RS4/Cabriolet_(8E/8H)">Go down to 55</a></li></ul>

Default Any code entered in control 55 besides 001-004 results in no change

<center><img src="http://gallery.mac.com/olddirtyschwartz/100010/photo1192579265451/web.jpg"></center><p>I tried to enter 006 and 018, both resulted in no change to the previous software coding.

The Dash still says out of range.
The error log is the same no matter what the software Coding is

Is there an aiming process that needs to be done or maybe it has to do with my A8 not having the Advanced Lighting System.

Need to get this working...

here is the log with the coding at 001

Default If you bring it to the dealer, I bet they would be able to do it

Too bad that they have the stupid "fault finding guide" associated with the new Audi VAG-COM tool and no longer include the info on the Bently repair manual.

If I were you guys, I would start saving every bit of info and hosting it somewhere....

Why? Because my next car is going to be a 2007 S8!!!
