VIN check
I am looking at 04 Audi A8 and VIN is WAUML44E94N024681. Is this considered as a early 04 or later 04?

I care
Some of the issues with the 04's I heard that it is with the initial batch of the eariler A8 D3 new body style. I just want to avoid the eariler ones in case the PO did not do the remedy to the issues.

Agreed. Some early 04s have been reported as a little "buggy".
In fairness - some early 04s have been reported on here as being nearly flawless well into their service.
I was just talking with a buddy of mine last evening. He has owned 8 Audis - A6s and A8s.
It's been our combined experience that it's luck of the draw with these cars. Some will be problematic, some won't.
I do agree that the model gets better with a few years of prior production for Audi to learn from - especially with a car this complex. I also think it's true with most car manufacturers that the breed improves over it's production run.
With Corvettes, for example, the last year of each generation is usually the most refined and reliable.

Over about 12,000 and the big problems seemed to diminish.
I've had very few issues. The "launch" vehicles that hit the U.S. for the D3, like in the low digits had more than usual problems.
