Default XM and Sirius modules interchangable?

having trouble with a car with Sirius, it says 'LINKING' , but never gets it done. Have a car with XM that works fine, so I want to replace the Sirius module as a way of finding out if the module is the culprit.

Dont want to fry something, so I thought Id inquire.

Default Yes if the year and body are right...

Back when car was new some folks wanted the "other" service from what it was first shipped with, so they had the box swapped. Mine was a dealership manager-owned ride at first, and my paperwork says it came w/ Sirius, yet it has the XM box and an old work order I got says it was swapped. Way back when, some said the XM box had a cleaner sound, but who knows.

Things to watch out for are whether it's an A8 box (rather than A6 or Q7, etc.) and which year. There is an old interchange chart around somewhere IIRC (maybe an old TSB from the 2006 or 7 type timeframe?). Where you could come up short are on the basic physical connectors if I remember that a bit. I think maybe some had one and some two (either main connection or antenna?; don't recall specifics), or something basic like that that didn't always make it a no brainer.

Default

Thats exactly the info I needed, thanks ! I swapped the modules and that solved the inability to 'LINK' , I guess the modules can fail. I have an 06 A6 Avant that has been having the same problem, and the A6 uses an A8 module, so I tried the known-good module in the A6 tooand it worked perfectly. So I had two modules fail...what are the odds??!
