One of my customers has a '14 S8 and I was thinking of inviting him to a 1/2 mile event at the end of April.

Do the S8's have a 155mph limiter?

If so seems like a good chance he may hit 155 in the 1/2. Anyone ever run one or have an idea what it would run?

No fun to run if your bouncing off the limiter before the run is over.

Yes, they are limited to 155.
Speed at 1/4 mile is about 118mph, doubt it can get to 155 1/4 mile later.

I'd expect it to get about 145mph out of that distance, give or take a couple mph. Can't know for sure unless he runs it.

Also, if you watch the 95% of YouTube videos that show the S8 taking almost anything at the ¼ mile, almost every time it is obvious it is over in the first 50 feet. Quattro traction stomps the RWD ones no matter how pumped up they are and how much they heat the tires. I laugh after about the half dozenth one where some confident but hapless owner does the bleach type burn out stuff since "he knows" to be ready. Lose; fish in barrel. On the other hand, on the higher performance ones, watch near the end. Many have pulled on the S8 and look like they will pass it a bit further down. On those, you usually see a final trap speed just over 120 for the losing competitor, while the S8 is just under yet easily takes the ¼ mile. Some embarrassingly so if not blown or a mediocre start.

118 is a standing quarter, looks like they are starting from 40mph, so still might hit the limit.

It takes the S8 11.8 seconds to get to the 1/4 mile. I'd guess another 9 seconds to reach the half mile. That's a total of 20.8 seconds to reach the half mile. It takes the S8 about 21.7 seconds from 0 to 150mph. So, from a standing start (not 40mph rolling), I'd guess the S8 can attain high 140's at the end of the half mile.

Mine did 148 in the half mile from a standstill. It has the APR tune and I was using race fuel.

Actually saw that run last year hence why i bought an S8 lol .
my best run this year on Sunday was 142.94 Bone stock, so looking forward to run it tuned.
