2012 A8 Low Speed Vibration

It sounds like they are guessing, at this point. As long as your warranty is covering it, I suppose you can't complain much. Keep us posted, if they figure it out, they'll be the first I know of to have an actual solution to this common and irritating problem.

It's amazing that Audi doesn't actually have some engineers from the factory working on this. Obviously a design flaw.

Hey Tim,
I'm also in NOVA and have had my CPO 2013 A8 L in the shop three times for the vibration. Dealer put on a new set of pipes right before I bought it and then after I complained about the vibration (mine is 35-45 MPH, but very present at 38-39MPH) found a TSB for the flex pipes that they followed. The vibration is less than it was but it's still there. They have new flex pipes on order from Germany and we'll see if that fixes it when they get replaced. Crossing my fingers since I also drive mostly at these speeds and it's annoying (I switch to comfort mode and it seems like I feel it less than in Auto or Dynamic).

The cyclical vibration at 40 MPH is finally gone! They replaced the exhaust flex pipes twice, believing that was the problem, and the vibration continued. They finally replaced the drive-shaft with a new one and that solved the problem.
So if your D4 A8 gets a cyclical vibration, similar to driving over those grooves as you approach a toll booth, it's more than likely the drive-shaft.

I am great to hear this TimINNOVA!!! Its a wonderful feeling to get that smooth feel at all speeds again without that annoying vibe. My car is now at 101k miles and running smooth as glass.

I'm joining the replaced driveshaft family. My 2012 A8L at about 65K miles started with the cyclic vibration. I was 90% certain it was the driveshaft as I had a similar issue with another vehicle many years ago. When TimInNova posted his remedy it made me 100% certain I had the same issue. Since I am not under warranty, I started looking around for a deal on a driveshaft. New driveshafts are just south of $2K plus install. I found a junkyard about 40 miles away that had one out of a 2015 A8L for $510 using car-part.com. I called them to inquire about the mileage and they told me it had 4 miles on it. No typo here 4 freakin miles! It was some sort of buyback car. So I purchased it and for another 50 bucks got an 18 month warranty. They even delivered it to my mechanic for free! It was installed last Friday, total cost $760.00 and the car is mint again! I'm a very happy camper! Thank you to all who contributed to this thread!

Awesome to hear!!! I had this issue about 2 years ago with my 2012 Audi A8L with 50k miles and I had the 100k mile warranty so it was replaced with a new driveshaft the issue went away. I was the first guy with the D4 to have this. So far the car is running smoothly and is at 102k miles.
