Not a fan of the new visual treatment
I love the front of the current model and think they took a step backwards by shortening the front grill. I also prefer the look of the old headlights. Overall I think the front looks too angular now, too pinched.

Oh boy! From what I see so far, I like the 2014 A8 model better. YES!!!! IMHO, the design is more refined, elegant, and a bit more lean than the 2013 model. (YMMV) Very cool! Can't wait to see the 2014 S8...still have about 50+ pictures to view so maybe one will be in there. Thanks for posting that, BTW.

I just (Saturday) took delivery of an 014 S8. Honestly, I see no differences. I shall have to look closely. I can tell you that mine does not have the design elements of the A8/S8 in the photos so maybe these are for the 015 model?

However, as we already discussed a few months ago on this forum, U.S./North American 2014 A8/S8s have essentially the same D4 exterior as the 2011 thru 2013 model.

Yes. In North America the "face-lifted" version will be a 2015 MY vehicle---I'd look for demo cars to probably arrive by late Spring 2014, with first deliveries in early Fall 2014. I'd expect dealers will be able to take their first customer orders by June or July '14, if history repeats itself from the last D3 mid-cycle re-fresh. Could the updated D4 reach these shores earlier?; anything's possible.

[QUOTE=jetinder;24481543]We should be able to order sometime next month in Europe, for delivery in Jan 14.[/Q on UOTE]
Not surprising...As I recall, you took delivery of your D4 way ahead of us "Colonials"; seems like it was perhaps 6-months or more before deliveries started over here. Depending how much 2014 A8 inventory exists here, it could be a while before Audi of America releases the face-lifted 2015 model, so deliveries could be held up a bit. Last time around, the face-lifted D3 2008 MY cars were held at port for quite a while until the 2007 MY inventory was thinned...I was hammering away at some poor guy at Audi of America at the time about getting my '08 A8L that was stuck at port in September '07, but didn't get released to my dealer until October. Perhaps this time around there won't be as large a 2014 inventory base to contend with, since the face-lifted version was introduced so early.
I'm stopping by my dealer today, so I'll inquire about what they've been told to expect.
UPDATE-
No official word from AoA on timing, but my dealer thinks 2014 MY will be abbreviated, with the face-lifted 2015 model arriving stateside this coming Spring. No word on when customer orders can begin. As a side note: two additional colors for 2014MY were added to the A8 pallet, but won't be available until build week 44, which is this October---so the takeaway is that the current U.S. spec 2014 model continues in production through the Fall, and probably, at least, until the end of the calendar year. Perhaps something more definite will be announced at the upcoming Frankfurt Auto Show.
