Finally bought an Audi A8 a few weeks ago and trying to sort out the one and only issue on the car. On acceleration there is a vibration that is coming from the drivetrain and seems to happen as it is shifting into gears as the RPM's increase. Not a tire issue. Happens more on heavy acceleration...best described as a shuttering vibration. If you let off the gas and let the car coast there is no vibration at all. Took it to the local Audi dealer here in Arizona last week and they replaced the engine mounts...but looks like that did not solve the problem at all. The dealer I bought it from in California thought it may just be an exhaust hanger that needed to be replaced since I already felt it when I took it for a test drive in the beginning.
Curious if any other A8 owners ever had this issue. Car only has 25,000 miles on it and is really clean....so would like to get it sorted out now in the beginning before I can start putting some miles on it and enjoying it.
Hi everyone. Just want to give you my experience with this problem. I bough s8 2013 1 week ago. There was big vibration om 1000 rpm and 3000 rpm . I went to one muffler shop to do straight pipe . After all was done i go out to try the sound was almost the same but the vibrations was gone. Now i don't have any vibrations at all. Thanks and hope this will help to some one of you
Update. I had the dealer do the service on this and wanted to post some photos from my shop. Put it up on a 4 post lift so its easy to see. A good portion of the exhaust was replaced and you can see that here:
