2014 S8 Stereo Upgrade
After a couple months of ownership I can tell you I really love my S8 more than all my other cars and more than any previous cars I have owned. Been having fun adding performance mods and had neglected fixing the stereo. Since I bought the car the factory sub has been dead. It even had a code for an open wire on the sub itself and sure enough it did have a blown voice coil. I decided to finally give the car the sound it deserved after the passenger tweeter started to bounce when it went up and eventually stopped going up. I really like the mids/highs of the B&O stereo and did not wish to lose the setup so I made the decision to fix the tweeters and then pull the factory sub and replace it with a Stereo Integrity SQL 12" sub in an infinite baffle configuration. Powered it off of a JL Audio 500/1 amplifier. Also decided to add remote start and fix the tweeters. Tweeters were pretty easy, just needed to tighten the gears and lube the mech. They now go up and down quickly and smoothly like new again and didnt have to pay $1000 each! LOL
The sub was a bit more challenging. Had to reinforce the deck after removing an amazing amount of stuff and also had to enlarge the opening. So far its turning out well. We even tested the sub using the factory B&O amplifier and it really thumps that sub! I was kind of amazed how much it moved it! LOL Tomorrow they will finish it up and should be good to go.
These pictures are not the completed system and it will all be finished off and amp cleaned off. I am including a short video of how well that sub puts out using only the stock amplifier. The other video I just found funny as my friend was in the trunk making changes for the sub and was next to the relay bank as the car was "booting". If you have one you know how much stuff moves when you start it so thats a relay for every moving part. He was shocked how many relays were activating. lol

Changed things up a tad with the stereo. Pulled the old JL amp in favor of an Audio Control and pulled the SI SQL12 to try out a Hybrid Audio Clarus 12". The SI is quite excellent but a friend really wanted me to try the HAT sub so I told him slap it in.
So far I am very very impressed with that sub. Super clean an accurate. Not as punchy or powerful as the SI but does seem to blend better and really digs down low.
