Default Anyone Running APR tune on their 3.0?

Interested in getting the APR tune for the 3.0, just the tune stage 1 , no hardware just software. Would like feedback on anyone running it, opinions? Any worries about Engine longevity, APR obviously knows what they are doing I would not think there is any concerns.

Thanks in advance

I have researched it quite a bit. The 3.0 handles the tune very well and reviews are always great. It is highly recommended to upgrade the intercooler even if only going with stage 1. It is the bottleneck in the system.

Default tune

I did the pulley on my 2013 A8L before I got an S8 and thought it was fantastic. Actually I don't think it was that much slower than my S8 and the fact that the motor was a lighter super charged 6 versus a turbocharged 8... It actually felt bit sportier than my S8 in some ways.. If not for the luxery of the S8... I would have kept my A8L... but never without the APR chip stage 1 and pulley.

Good luck with your decision.

@dls911, thanks for the info I was looking in to stage 2 and intercooler upgrade to make it move faster.

Did
Did you do the Stage 1 with the pulley? The chip actually does very little...it's the pulley with the chip that makes all the difference...since without the pulley...the car is set up just to bleed off the boost. I would do the pulley and stage 1 before jumping to stage 2 since I think you will be very impressed with the way the car runs....although more cooling never hurts...I would just go in stages...but definitely recommend the pulley as a must for the supercharged six...just a great solution. Only my take. All the best and enjoy. David

@dls911 I didn't do anything yet. Guys I work with from GRDTuned said I will need Stage 1 and then double pulley with a Stage 2 and car comes alive. I was just worrying about the cooling I was assuming that the supercharger will run pretty hot... Therefore I want better intercooler and cold air intake.....

Bumper has to come off for the upgraded intercooler. If you are already there why not do the crank pulley at the same time? That pulley is cheap. Stage 2 dual pulley without intercooler still requires this. I am speaking of the 2 pulley upgrade vs 1. More cost effective to just do it all at the same time vs going back for a new flash and all the labor. At least this was my plan. I was quoted about 3k out the door. Very reputable local APR specialists highly recommends the intercooler upgrade & I agree. The stock is rather small.

I never had an issue with heat...but I only drove the car on the street for a year before going to my S8...but I am hard on cars. Also...I am from Pgh...which it gets hot in the summer...but not super hot. I don't believe my dealer had to pull the bumper since there is much space in the engine bay on the 6's...but I could be wrong. 3k for everything with the intercooler is a better deal than I got without the intercooler...which if I had the option...would definitely have opted for at that price...since it is the better way to go. Still...my car ran great with the chip and pulley...and never had an issue/performance was great. Only went to the S8 for options and final appearance. Good luck.
