Conditioning the rubber seals

Interesting only in that we just bought a 335i BMW convertible with the hardtop retractable roof and someone has a sticky on conditioning the seals - they recommend a product called Gummi, it's on amazon. Just used it today.

I noticed this thread is kinda old, but I will weigh in anyway.
Years and years ago, when car paint was baked, a technician told me they treated rubber seals with a drop of Murphy's Oil Soap. You apply a small amount, work it in, then come back with a damp rag to remove excess. If you over-soap then the soap dries and cakes and sticks, so don't over do it. i have been treating the rubber seals on all my vehicles this way since the 1970's and have never had a rubber seal crack.
