Could REALLY use advice on PCV valve

I should mention, I've seen others do this without draining the coolant. From reading a thread on another forum from someone who did a complete engine removal, there is no way to "burp" the system of air. Therefore if you remove coolant pipes and put it back together you will have air in the system. I'll amend my previous reply to include the coolant filling tool I used to refill coolant, drain procedure can be found on alldatadiy or similar service manual.

One more piece of advice for anyone attempting this:
When you get to the point where you are removing the intake runner bolts from the intake manifolds, DO NOT PUSH on the bolt when you are unscrewing it. The intake manifolds have a metal nut which the bolt screws into...this can pop out the back if you apply too much pressure! I had one pop out on me and it fell on top of the oil pan, took about 3 hours before I finally found it. They do not sell the nut separately, nor does anyone make one that would fit properly. At that point you would need a new intake manifold, which requires an engine out =).

Yep, I seem to recall I never had to move that OR that it just pops out of it's "clips" and the intake comes out underneath it...don't recall ever disconnecting any coolant lines......

Just curious who has seen failures and at what mileage on 4.0t D4?
I have 55k or so on mine and the last thing I want to do is get quoted $1300 for this PCV repair.
I have had the one on my B8.5 A5 fail but that takes 10 minutes with a flathead screwdriver in the auto parts parking lot to replace. The A8 is obviously a completely different beast.

Indeed. The part was either designed incorrectly or manufactured incorrectly, either way there is a high chance for failure. The updated part you get from Audi has no visible differences to the original, so it must be an internal problem.
