Default Differences in seat upholstery

I've noticed that '14 and '15 A8L's that I've looked at have slightly different upholstery. Some have a "diamond" type of stitching in the seats and others have the usual flat leather. What's the difference?

Best,

Its the comfort package... Vented seats with massage is the big difference also the comfort package has perforated leather which does not stick to you when in shorts in the car.

Best,
It seems that you are on the hunt for a used '14 or '15 A8L. Here are the brochures for reference so you are informed of the various options and packages that were available for this model.

That's fantastic info. Thanks!

Also need to get an updated copy of the VAG "family album". The last version I have stops at 2005.

The Diamond stitched seats tells you the car is equipped with the sport package. Believe the leather is also upgraded as well in the sport package, at least they call it something different like Valcona leather or something close like that.

With the sport package comes the all important sport differential which will drive you thru a corner very nicely. Very excellent in the snow, instead of pushing the front end in the corner, you will rail right thru it much nicer with it. I'd never drive another Audi without it again after trying it, makes a huge difference. It was always my biggest complaint with my prior Audi's without it, they always pushed in the snowy and icy corners, worse than two wheel drive vehicles for some reason.

The Diamond Stitched Pattern Comfort Sport Seats have been packaged differently, depending on A8 model year (standard on S8). Early on in 2011 and 2012 they were available only with the Sports package, then became part of the lesser Sports Decor package in 2013 (and perhaps 2014, I forget). For the last three model years they have been available in the Luxury package, and became standard on the A8 4.0T in 2016 and 2017. Getting the Diamond Stitched seats first requires ordering the package containing the 22-way Comfort Seats (goes by different names depending on model year), except when the diamond pattern seats are standard. It can get confusing.

Only if equipped with the optional Dynamic package (dynamic steering & rear sports differential). In MMI Drive Select "Individual" settings there will be a selection for Rear Differential (Comfort-Auto-Dynamic). If that selection is there, then you have the Rear Sports Differential...If not there, then you don't.

But then again, maybe all "2106" models will have it...sorry, I couldn't resist.

This has been my issue with Audi since I started buying them back the 90's....they offer a dizzying variety of options that really don't remain consistent from year to year. So for someone like me who takes a couple of years off, you really lose touch with what packages were available when, for how long, etc.
