Door locks - Is it just annoying, or is it "A Problem"?
2011 A8L - Been meaning to ask this for some time, now. Every time I wash my car, the doors lock/unlock over and over, whenever water gets on/in the door handles (all 4 doors, by the way). Obviously, water is getting inside and 'completing the circuit' for the lock buttons.
Questions:
Does anyone else experience this?
Is this a common fault?
Is it something I should take care of? How? Is doing so a big pain in the ****?
I hope to keep this car for a good, long time and I want to take care of it. If possible, I'll be doing the work myself. I do everything I'm able to do, if it saves me $180-an-hour in shop fees! I also have a VCDS, if that's needed.
Thanks, y'all!

Yes, common issue. Same on our 2013 Q5. I don't think the water is getting "in" anywhere--it is just triggering the switching due to contact or temp. My D3 used to have physical pressure switches that were less sensitive to it, but then they also failed over the years.
As mentioned, if you just put key on seat inside, issue solved. Or, leave it in the house/away from car.

There's nothing wrong. There's a sensor that detects your hand when you go to lock or unlock from the door handle. The water hits the sensor and, bingo. Common reaction on all vehicles with keyless entry

Sorry to say but it IS definitely a flaw...
At first I thought my car was having a short circuit because of some water leak via the door handles.
I was really pissed.
Common reaction on all vehicles with keyless entry?? Seriously?
My former BMW was never doing it,
and my current BMW is not doing it either.

You seem pissed because bmw is doing better than the vw group on this.
