Hmmm.... 275/45 ? The 7 series has it ...
In years past, I have taken part in a lot of tire discussions on the D3 board.
My own experience with 275/32 zr20 on two successive (2006, 2009) A8s has been that a lot of the luxury is lost in this configuration. It's a rougher, bumpier ride, with a lot more steering wheel jitter. But it sure looks good...
So, in the course of all of this, it occurred to me that 275/45 would alleviate some of this - you'd have a taller profile, more shock absorption, etc. This was immediately shot down by several folks as not being workable/reasonable/sensible/etc. Ok, fine.
However, I recently noticed that the current 7-series does indeed have a 275/45 option for tires ...
Comments ? 275/45 on the D4 ? Why does it "work" on the 7 series ?

Audi have the 275/35 available with the 21 inch rims. It'll be a pretty bumpy ride on the UK roads I'd imagine, as our roads aren't as smooth as Germany or France.
As for the 275/45 20's , could these be squeezed onto 9" wide rims ? If the numbers work out with overall circumference, why not ? Personally, I find the 265/40's fine for everyday use, just got through my first set of them after 16,000 miles for £1180 for a set.
