Also when my car is cold the top RPM is 5.5K and will change to 6K when it reaches normal temp. Is that Normal?
The CEUC and CGTA etc. used in the S6/S7 and S8 are 6400.
FWIW I think the RS7 is 6600 and the RS7P is 6800.

Yes, the lower redline display while cold/warming up is normal. I have the same. It's a good feature, since you want oil circulating well and thus warmed up when you push it. I don't push mine cold and it hits operating temp pretty quickly anyway in my mild CA coastal climate. Thus I have never really tested it to see if it actually shifts early at the lower indicated redline point when cold (5400 on my S8).
On this part of thread about redline, what I haven't looked at in a while either is where it actually shifts when at operating temp. The first couple gears go so fast you really have very little chance to see it visually at full throttle. I have never run a VCDS monitored data stream to see what it reports specifically. To some of the reply discussion, my guess is w/ tune redline still stays where it was, and tranny computer would probably need to be modded/recoded to change that.

To earlier questions and tying to other threads, the sobering revelation about the valve shim problem on cylinder 5 has cooled any favorable interest I had earlier on higher RPM cut off on this motor in stock configuration.

@MP4.2+6.0 what is the COD display? I usually just look at the factory consumption and then see if that bar is green.
