I am dropping my car off tomorrow afternoon to get both motor mounts replaced. I am still unhappy about the cost, but what the hell.
The advice shared in this thread was very helpful. The clincher for me was on Sunday. I popped the hood and started the car. Put it in drive and power-braked to 2,000 rpm. The passenger side of the motor seemed to lift an AWEFUL amount…like it could hit the underside of the hood if it were closed, lol. Okay, that might be a slight exaggeration but it did move alot.
Since you gentlemen were so kind to point out the lack of smoothness with a bad mount, guess what? I sure could feel it after reading your posts. Seriously I did not know about CoD and it IS rougher/more vibration when it is in that mode. If my information is correct, it goes into CoD mode when the entire fuel economy bar turns green.
Fingers crossed all with be well again before the weekend.

Just a quick update...all is well again. The new motor mounts were installed yesterday and my car is back home. Yes, I notice that it is much smoother in the CoD mode, but otherwise feels about the same. I have the old parts, the passenger side mount is TOAST and I can easily pull it apart with my hands. The driver's side looks and acts like new. I know it is considered a "best practice" to replace both, but if there is a "next time" I will probably just do the passenger side.

I also have the engine mount fault on my 91k mile 2015 S8. Ordered mounts from Audiusaparts for about $600 each - shipping from Germany. I have the factory repair manual and will be attempting this myself with no lift. Very much not excited to do the replacement as the last time I did this on my former B8 S4 I had to pry the engine and subframe apart to get them. Should I post a DIY when the mounts arrive?

By all means! Be sure to include the last scene where you slit your wrists.

This is the driver's side engine mount. Perished! It easily seperates with just a little effort.
