Jersh - Also keep in mind that Audi, like most buinesses when times get rough, negoiate better deals with their suppliers. The mark up is also much less than when the D2 debuted, about 20%, compared to the 6-7% currently on all Audi's. This will only reflect the change from D2 to D3/D4. Audi explained to a few dealers in a small forum after the Miami show that the price would be within 8-9% of the current MY. Audi is a strong company on the rise, but one of the best selling features is the savings vs BMW/MB/Lexus.
Sounds like the bad experience with your A8 has left a sour taste. Don't let that taste ruin your opinion of a car no one has even driven yet.

This "argument" that luxury cars need to rise in price with the current exchange rate demonstrates zero knowledge of the way multinational corporations conduct business -- not to mention zero knowledge of floating exchange rates, international capital flows, and currency hedging.
It is ludicrous to bring this up regarding content, engineering, materials, etc., especially on a car that has not yet been released.
