Guys, from now on please post your motor in all the replies and such if even CONCEIVABLY relevant. If you are talking anything about engine, of course it is relevant. Frankly, get year and motor in the avatars and/or in your signatures. Your general geography too--US, Europe, wherever. Can often help at least guess or triangulate back to motor and likely equipment too.

Not doing so introduces unnecessary confusion, especially in these wandering multi year threads which themselves seem convoluted.

Meanwhile I would retire this thread. For anyone with issues, please start a thread specific to them, explain the issues, miles/km on car, work done, relevant specific codes from a quality scan tool (not OBDII generic) , etc.

If I dig deep into replacing the PCV body which is very in depth and and expensive which of course also includes all belts, pulleys, water pumps, seals, etc and now you mention oil screen is over $1000 dollars just in parts. Not sure where oil screen is. Assuming at the back of super charger. The. I’ve heard of replacing the intercooler oil too. Before long, a major maintenance will turn into a full engine resto. Not to mention it will prob take me a while weekend or longer just if all goes well and I don’t get stuck without a part or tool I need and don’t have. Also bleeding the coolant system and dealing with fuel lines is going to be the big pain because of fluids. Without something to properly catch them it’s hard without a lift and using ramps that aren’t level.
@MP4.2+6.0 this is the sound my car makes when starting up. Mostly on cold. Almost sounds like valves on a TDI, but this is a Gas. Makes me think a starter, but not heard one tick like this. https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/q9l7pb6gtvzqi3kje9wao/IMG_8730.MOV?rlkey=i9xr26x8a7vxrarnp3d43z6lk&dl=0
Suggestions?

In a Ford EcoBoost engine, what you are describing is 100% cam phaser failure or a stretch timing chain or both.

That's the extent of my experience and the most that I can help you. Sorry. Hopefully an Audi guy will come by and give you the answer.

That's chains. Heard that many times for 3.2/4.2 and some 3.0 engines, it will be the upper chain tensioners and you can replace them in car.

If you reread what Striker wrote to you he says that it can be done in car. So you are lucky there actually. If it couldn't be done in car you'd be looking at 10K.

I don't know what this repair would be on an Audi but in a Ford F-150 it's around 3K.
