I just received the S8 lights that I purchased off eBay. They look the same as the ones as dgbaudiphile and TinyElviss posted. The ones on the drivers side (left) were orientated just like the ones pictured above. On the passenger side they were upside down. Upon further inspection you can rotate the lens in the light so I rotated 180 degrees and both sides are not “right side up” when entering the car. I did have to use the jumper wires that were included with the lights. There was not a positive or negative indicator on the light so I just plugged them in.
Thanks for the posts. This was a great addition to the car and all four doors for under $50. It took 2-3 weeks to receive the lights after I ordered.

I have been using puddle lights from Amazon and/or eBay for many years. The price difference was just too great to purchase the OEM units. For some reason, I decided to give the OEM units a try after talking to the Audi Parts Manager. I must say, they are much brighter than the non-OEM units. Hopefully they will last much longer too. BTW, the non-OEM lights in the pictures have been on my car for a few months. The first two pics are non-OEM, the second two pics are of the newly installed OEM. All pics are from the driver's door, taken within three minutes of each other (with the same ambient light, etc.).
So is it worth paying 12x more, that's up to you. I found these OEM lights on eBay for just over $100 (so only 8x, lol).

Ooh, I haven’t seen the S8 logo before. Is that OEM? The 8 is ever so slightly off on typeface so I’m guessing not. But it looks really smart.
Having seen both OEM and aftermarket eBay ones together, if the money is burning a hole in your pocket then the OEM ones are worth it. They’re relatively expensive new, but can be found cheaper used (as wise Dave pointed out) they are MUCH brighter and more defined. The aftermarket ones are still worth every penny too.
You can even use OEM LEDs and have custom lenses to project whatever you want
