Steering Wheel Vibration at 90 MPH. How to Fix?
I installed new Michelin Pilot Sport tires at 55K miles on my 2014 A8, and the tires were NOT road force balanced, unlike the previous two instances. 10K miles later, I notice a steering wheel vibration above 85MPH. Could it be fixed by road force balancing, or do I need 4 wheel alignment? It is not apparent upto 75 MPH.
Of course, I could just drive slower, but then what is the point of owning a 4.0T?

I recently took delivery of a new Cayenne. The next day I returned it to the dealer and told them the right front tire was out of balance. They said a certified Porsche tech had to evaluate before they would balance the wheels. The result was "The vehicle is performing as designed." I took it to my indy and they found right front out 1/2 oz.
So, the short answer IMO is yes. Take it to a good shop, which does not necessarily mean the dealer.

Alignment has nothing to do with a vibration. Only overlap is if aligning is also compensating for a worn part, but vibration is probably still there anyway.
Fix can be as simple as a regular dynamic balance--the "standard" one. At 10K incremental miles on a summer tire, they have likely worn a fair amount anyway. I often do a balance at tire mid life.
Besides balance it could also be a slightly bent wheel or a belt or other issue in a tire. Likely balance, but in taking them off and spinning them up on balance machine, those other things can be checked/seen as long as they bother to look.

Road force balance “should” take care of it. I’ve had A8’s that need to have the wheel nuts torqued in the air without a load to get a great balance.
The design of the car is that sensitive to a great balance. The cost of a road force balance is well worth it!

You pretty much answered your own question. You need to get those tire road force balanced and rule out slightly out of round tires. Make sure ALL assembly wheel/tire at at 10 lbs or below. Or these Audis will have some vibration.
