Is there a way to read my AMAX counter?
As the title states, I am trying to find out if I can find where the AMAX counter is at. I only have an OBDeleven so not even sure if that can read it or if I need a VCDS. Also I would assume a trans tune would eliminate this 200 uses limitation?

I keep seeing over and over that it also applies to the ZF. I know on here when I was doing my research trying to find it that a guy with an RS7 had reached his 200 limit and through HP Tuners was able to buy credits to go from 200 to 2000 but now they can do unlimited. I too thought it was only on DSGs but the S8/A8 pages talk about it from time to time but no info of where to find the number.
If it does not have a limit, great but APR seems to think different and I guess was one of the reasons they never released their TCM tune.
I am waiting on Mirza to get back with me to confirm it or not as I planned on having him do my TCU tune.

It’s sounds like you’ve been doing your homework l, so this is more for anyone else curious and reading than it is for you:
AMAX is basically a no-lift shift. During normal shifting the ECU retards timing to reduce torque so (in the case of DSG) the second clutch engaging slips less, or in the case of single automated clutch like Ferrari F1 trans or BMW SMG it reduces slip when the single clutch re-engages.
During AMAX the ECU does not retard timing and the ECU allows the clutches alone to slow engine RPM. Obviously this causes increased wear.
All auto transmissions these days also cut timing to reduce shock load. So I guess I see where it could apply, but I also don’t see a clutch pack on a tuned RS 7 or S8 lasting even 200 counts before excessive wear. I accept that I can be wrong on this one and probably spoke prematurely. But I don’t see a situation where it’s possible that, from factory, timing wouldn’t be cut and clutch packs are given the task of bringing RPM down during shift

As far as AMAX it is now tuned to count to 99.999 so it wont limit me as I had reached its 200 limit before. As for the tune.... cars driveability did get nicer BUT the tune is garbage. I wont name names as he dont do them anymore anyway but cars redline is 7300 and the trans shifts at 6700 even in manual. I have already gotten with Will and Sean at SRM and they are gonna retune my trans. I just sent them tonights data logs. Shifts are faster for sure but there is a lot left on the table.
