thinking of buying
I am considering purchasing a 2013 a8 only has 9000 miles and is $53000 I have heard audi had a bad reputation for problems in the past. should I be concerned about the reliability? the car is a cpo sounds too good to be true have others on here had claims under cpo warranty and if so im curious how smooth it went

That is more Audi in C2-C5 era, which is about D1 era. As in, up through maybe 10-15 years ago for some models. D2 + C5 era also had the lemon 5 speed tranny, now two generations ago. As did the Jag XJ of the era, as did the BMW, as did ... If you want modern motor problems in a V8, BMW might be frankly more your "go to" brand in recent years. Or many a nit issue as the car ages, maybe Merc even. As in, there is no perfect score here. But if you want appliance and "Maytag" there are a lot of appliancemobiles out there; just be prepared to be bored just like the Maytag man.
Biggest picture, any complex luxury vehicle will have more issues with more systems, from Lexus to Merc to whomever. Audi's reputation is much improved generation over generation. In general call it bad in old history, to mediocre 15 years ago, to decent to good these days. If you buy mid life or later for a model (like a 2013 vs a 2011), yet better, though 2013 was when the then new motors got intro'ed. Still at post 100K, expect various electrical issues on most any luxobarge, and increasingly on many more pedestrian brands as they get loaded up. That's a long way though from 3 years, 9K miles and CPO.
You might want to search. The CPO subject has been written on about 1000 times, including by me and lots of others. Here at best you will get a small random sampling from a limited number of owners who read it and respond in next day or so.

Much more reliable than Bmw , IMO. Like others have said though any car can have issues With those miles it sounds pretty much new. How's the car fax?
I paid $20k less, but a 2011 w/77k miles. I'm happy-happy

Make sure the one you are looking at has the options you want as you can't add them later.
