Default VCDS Mods done to my 2012 A8L

We have all seen the questions with little response so I thought I would put out there what I have done when it comes to the mods and how they were done.

Here is what I have programmed thus far with coding and results.

The following have been programmed and are working:

Enable Automatic Gear selection shown in DIS
[02 – Auto Trans] [Adaptation – 10]
Select “Single Gear Display” from top channel drop down menu
Select “D on/S on” from New value drop down menu

Enable Gauge Test/Needle Sweep
[17 - Instruments] [Coding - 07] -> Long Coding Helper -> Byte 1
Bit 0 - Check the box for "Gauge Test/Needle Sweep active"

Enable Remote Operation Windows and Sunroof
[46 - Cent. Conv.] [Coding - 07] -> [Long Coding Helper] Byte 2
Bit 2 - Set to 1

The following have been programmed and have not been tested or not working as expected:

Enable Adaptive brake lights
[46 - Comfort System] [Coding - 07] -> Long Coding Helper -> Byte 8
Bit 0 – Emergency Brake Flashing via Turn Lights active (1 = active)
Bit 1 – Emergency Brake Flashing via Brake Lights active (1 = active)

I have read that the car has to come to a complete stop in order for the ABS to register an emergency breaking. Sounds like it should be connected to the break cylinder and the amount of pressure put on the pedal should dictate and emergency breaking situation.

Enable Euro parking lights that turn on signal at night
[09 – Cent. Elect.] [Coding - 07] -> Long Coding Helper -> Byte 9
Bit 0 - Set to 1 [/quote]

Testing only turned on the front turn signals and not the rear. I need to do some more research on this one as I like the idea while I lived in Germany.

Enable Lap Timer
[17 - Instruments] [Coding - 07] -> Long Coding Helper -> Byte 1
Bit 3 - Check the box for "Lap Timer active"

Still haven't tested this one yet

I wanted this one but the coding I have doesn't show the byte as in the instructions

Disable "Lights are on" Warning
[09 – Cent. Elect.] [Coding - 07] -> Long Coding Helper -> Byte 5
Bit 3 - Set to 0 to disable "lights are on" warning when you open the door.

anyone know how to get this working?

These are the mods I still need to work on
Enable VIM on MMI
Adjust Consumption in DIS
Disable NAV & Phone warning messages while entering data at speed

Anything else anyone can think of would be great. Don't forget to post how you programmed them.

Just resurrecting this thread. I'm looking to do some mods to my car and was wondering what other vcds mods people have done to their car

Has the lowering affected the ride? Would be keen to do this but would worry that it would make the ride less comfortable.

Currently running 20", it is definitely stiffer but I'm in western Europe and roads are way more okay than in north america...

Ok, I'm in Scotland running 21's. Wouldn't want to go much firmer. I'll give it a go and I can always adjust it back.

Yeah, should be fine.
Try -15 mm. Looks good, at least on 20"

How is the noise with the 21"? What brand do you have?

Car has only done 7K so I think it's on the original rubber, Dunlop if I remember correctly, I will check later. The alloys are the rotor arm ones. To be honest the road noise is a bit more than I was expecting. It's not a major problem but I have double glazing and you can still hear a little tyre roar at some points. I'm going to get a set of wheels for winter and will likely go down to 17 or 18 inch so I will see how that compares.

Perfect, thanks for that. I searched but don't think I came across that, strange.
