Audi Connect + Email
I'm going to get crucified for even bringing this up, but I won't get into the details nor will I end up defending my question here if someone is going to troll me :-)
After perusing official Audi documentation, I believe that on the D5 A8, one can add email/read email etc directly through the MMI system, and I believe this is achieved through Audi Connect.
Can anyone confirm this? I understand that with Android Auto, that I will not get email notifications and i'm figuring out ways to root my device and to get around that limitation, but it would appear that Audi Connect gives me the ability to just read email, which is what I'm interested in.
Can anyone chime in while not judging and/or trolling?

There is some hope. For those of you with a D5, do you see this?
Display and reading out SMS and email

And....https://www.audiworld.com/forums/aud...esses-2936306/
To summarize, I guess my ask is, does anyone here have a D5 and can view emails directly on the car?

In the U.S. version of the D5 owner's manual, pp. 186-187 detail how to send & receive e-mail messages via the telephone section of the MMI. I've not explored this at all as I'm using the Apple iOS CarPlay feature in my D5 which does not have an e-mail function.

This just made my day considering how badly the stock market has tanked this week. Thank you gb4.2!!
Everyone: Check out the red box below. I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This solves the main limitation of Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as both prevent notification and handling of emails. I have no idea how the D5 will handle multi inboxes but this is better than nothing!!!!!

Wanted to provide further clarify here:
Not all email accounts will show up in the MMI here, and you cannot type a custom reply using the built in email tool.
Accounts I have tested:
Exchange: Does not work, does not show up
Gmail: Does work, show up
To be tested: IMAP/POP3 accounts
Email apps used that "pick up" the email accounts on the Android platform:
Samsung Email (confirmed)
To be tested: Gmail App/Nine/Outlook
Will report back.

To close this off, I could only get this to work with IMAP/POP3, and Gmail/Outlook email accounts. Exchange did not work.
Also, I have multiple email apps on my Android device. Only the native Samsung email app worked. Using any other email app caused the MMI to not pick up any email accounts.
That said when it did pick it up, it was absolutely fantastic!! It works very well on the MMI system. Shame about Exchange though.
HTH.

Most, if not all, Exchange providers have alternative IMAP/SMTP interfaces available for use with alternative (non-Microsoft or non-MS licensed) email clients. It's just a matter of searching your service provider's help documentation or contacting their support team. If it's a corporate Exchange system with tight security and no alternate interfaces, then yes... you may be out of luck for now.
