Electrical error

More lawyers sniffing for $$$
I got another ad on instagram, different law firm. Seems this is snowballing as a profit opportunity for litigators. Better in Audi’s interest to squash the problem with a foolproof recall.

Bought my 2019 A8 L (just under 30K miles) about a month ago and caught these same electrical errors last week. Still under warranty. No loaners available from Audi. Service has stated that they cannot get to the car until about 7/26, but they will see if they can squeeze it in. Service says that it could potentially be the Starter/generator.
Thankfully I didn't try to drive it to the dealership - as I was backing it out of my driveway for the tow truck - the car died. They don't seem too worried about the issues (always the case with them). Hopefully they can get it done sooner than a month.

If the car is still under warranty, I would demand a loaner and if the dealership does not have any available loaners, I would ask they provide you with a similar rental car until an Audi is available. I would also call Audi A8 advocate liine or as I understand it is now just a customer service line and ask for a loaner or reimbursement for a rental. Waiting is simply not acceptable.

They advised me to go through the dealership that I bought the car from, North Bay Imports, in East Windsor, CT to see if they would put me in a loaner (THEY DID - 2019 Q7). Stand up guys over there.
Audi was able to get the car in "early" (July 21st) for diag - It was the starter generator. Parts were ordered
(July 24th update) - No ETA on parts.
(Aug 2nd Update) - The parts arrived this morning, we will put it in the queue for the technician to hopefully get it in the the shop sometime today.
Did not hear back yesterday - Trying to get in touch with service today.
While this process was largely annoying and I haven't had the car for a month after just buying it the month prior - I was happy that the dealership was able to get me into a loaner - which actually worked out well as I was moving - another SUV came in handy.
I guess the universe has a plan for all of us.

UPDATE: The car has been with Audi Wallingford since the end of June. They couldn't even give me a service date until July 26th - that was just for diagnostic. Audi had no loaners available. I did put a claim in with Audi North America, but they said that they couldn't pay up front for a rental - I could rent and they would "review" it on the back end to see how much, if anything, they could reimburse. Not a cost I wanted to potentially take on.

After the installation of the starter/generator - they were having issues coding the electronics and waiting on an update file to load for the software (8/8/23).
All codes clear, but they were having issue getting the coolant system fully bled. Their technology specialist was on vacation. (8/10/23)
Today - 8/15/23 - Ordered a new thermostat - should be in the building tomorrow - thermostat would not let all of the air bleed out of the coolant system.
At this point - no clue when I will get the car back. Appreciate that they are working and updating me though.

Thought I would add a data point on this issue...I was just speaking to my service manager this morning about the BSG failure issue and to test the theory that it is a "cold weather" phenomena, I asked whether they have seen many failures here in the SF Bay area. He replied, "a ton". He said candidly that they had seen it across all of the models that have the mild hybrid system and, as many here have reported, the cars were sometimes shelved for more than 3 months as they waited for parts. His belief was that this was a manufacturing defect issue with the supplier, as the majority of cars have had no problems. I guess time will tell if he is correct in his deduction of the cause of the problem.

Still NADA
Bit of an update - This is taking much longer than expected. Still no car, but they did finally offer up a loaner, which I declined as I already had one from the initial dealership.

I have 2022 S6, and got the 48V alternator extended coverage from Audi early this year or last year (can't recall...), and did not treat it seriously until now I saw this spreading issue....
A few questions:
I have to admit I read as mush as I can for this meanwhile but did not read the whole 22 pages...... Does this 48V alternator/starter/generator issue only associated with MY 2019 or basically universal for the current platform? Logic told me this gonna be universal given the fact that Audi does not have the permanent fix.
Also, I read this exact issue across D5 platform A8/S8, and C8 platform RS6/RS7, and some A6. But I did not read any on C8 S6/S7 forum? Is that because S6/S7 is so rare? but RS6/RS7 should be even more rare....
