PSA? Oil Consumption

Call me suspicious, but I can't imagine that kind of oil consumption with those miles on the OD being "normal" . How many D5s with the new V8 has your SA experienced that he can offer that comment at this early stage? Just seems to be way too much oil being used for the mileage you have IMO.

I’ve also noticed this recently over the last few weeks. I was checking things with the My Audi mobile app and found the oil level down a “tick” off full—but after the next drive, it returned back to full. This has occurred twice after the car passed the 2,000 mile mark...Currently have 2,575 miles on the OD. After this past week’s 100 mile commute (on Monday), it’s currently reading full. Is a bit strange, no?
Update—
Reverse 100 mile commute today and no change from Monday’s post-commute reading: Max full.
Seems to have recovered from the previous BELOW FULL reading.

Funny story.... not so funny at the time. Took my car in to the dealer to get the oil topped off. They said it’s normal to need to be topped off. The young newbie kid/valet in the service drive fills it up right their with his fancy hose hanging from the ceiling. He got some oil from the cap he took off all over my engine cover when he set the cap on it. I mentioned he should wipe that off because other customers might be rude about those kinds of things.
I get 12 miles down the road, exit the highway and come to a stop light, and the car starts shaking, and idling insanely rough. The engine lights come on. I park the car at the grocery store and text my service guy. He tells me to bring it back. It was idling so rough that I didn’t think I should even drive it. I stoped the engine, run my errand at the store and start it up. It isles just as rough for a few seconds and then gets a bit better, but still rough. Engine lights were still on.
I get back to the dealer, and apparently the oil cap wasn’t on right and it was sucking in air and freaking out the engine and sensors. Newbie kid didn’t put my oil cap on right, I guess. Anyway, it seems to all be running ok now
. But this is all due to the oil being low in the first place.

Make sure the right oil was put in. I don't know what's used on the V8, but on the V6s, Audi dealers are notorious for not putting in the 50800 oil.

My service guy is pretty good to me. I’ve been going there for 12 years, except for my short mistake when I had a bmw. He said he could hear a slight whistling noise and knew instantly that it was the oil cap when he opened the hood. He took it back and checked the codes after tightening the cap. It ran fine for the 20 or so miles when I went home from the dealership. I put it into dynamic mode and got it up to 110mph when I entered the freeway just to open it up for a bit. No issues. I forgot how fast this thing is since I generally just want to drive it peacefully while enjoying a massage hahaha

Guess I’m old school and don’t have the good grace to be patient or forgiving about this kind of situation, especially on the franchise’s flagship model. They assign someone who isn’t apparently properly trained to, at the very least, reinstall an oil cap—REALLY!!! 🤬. A failure of the service department’s management—They should be ashamed.

Under hood label on my 2020 A8L 60 says the V8 should use 0-W30 & VW 504 00 specification.
