Default 1993 100 V6, I want to buy a VAG-COM but which do I need ? I'm a n00b

Hey guys, I have a '93 Audi 100. I've been doing some work on it and I have the dreaded air bag light thats always stuck on. I had it reset once by the dealer but the fo0l's charged me 125 bucks service. I was wondering if I can hook a vag-com up to my car via my laptop, but which one do I need to reset it and run diagnostics. And where would the connection go, I've looked all over the car for the adapter, but I guess I have not looked hard enough. Thanks for your help, you guys are gr8

I bought it 3 or 4 years ago. It's paid for itself at least ten times over.

Default Your '93 100 has the Motor Management System (MMS) 300. The Data Link Connectors for this MMS...

are located in the the fuse/relay box, located in the plenum under the hood. VAG-COM is designed for OBD-II compliant cars (1996 or newer); your vehicle is OBD-I compliant. But you might be able to use VAG-COM if you can obtain the diagnostic cable 1551/1 interface. Ross-Tech should be able to advise if their program works with your MMS 300. Otherwise, you will need the VAG 1551 scan tool and the 1551/1 cable.

Default Vag-Comm will work great on your 93, you need to convert to obdII

first go to the junk yard and grab a obdII plug from any 96+ car I used a honda, and go to the Faq's section and do the plug conversion. I went with the genaric cable route from cartech solutions for like $65 then registered the SW after i found out it did work on my 92 100s so in total I spent $165. if you don't want to do the conversion you can buy a adapter cable but it's like another $50 I got my plug from a honda free.

Default Or just get a 2x2 adapter:
