I've done some forum research and can't find anything, but I've had a battery go dead recently for no reason. Charged it up and the car is fine, as I believe is the alternator. Any switches or relays that are known to get stuck or shorted on these cars? Also, when you shut the car off with no fan or A/C or heat on, is it common when you turn it back on that the fan is on automatically? You follow what I'm asking? Thanks.

...the trunk switch broke and allowed the trunk light to stay on continuously.

Also check the light under the hood to see if it's been left on.

(not sure if your Avant is set up like my 100 CS, but it's an idea.)
